Scarpa's Flagship Women's Ski Touring boot, the Gea, has had an overhaul for the 2023/24 winter season.

As with the previous version, the shells are constructed with a more sustainable, plant based material Pbax Rnew which gives a lively and supprtive flex with out being too stiff for lighter skiers or tighter terrain and the power strap comes equipped with RECCO, which increases the chance of being located in the event of an avalanche.

The Intuition Pro Flex Touring liner also gives a more plush feel and an easier out of the box fit as the previous versions were firm and could feel quite firm until fitted and used.

Slightly lighter than its predecessor and with the a few more degrees range of motion in walk mode, the Gea still skis well and tours better than ever.

Scarpa have added the Speedlock MLT walk mechanism. These are easy to use, feeling reliable and rock solid when locked into ski mode allowing zero play when flexing into the cuffs and is also much more resistant to snow and ice issues.

They still feature the genuine Dynafit fittings and have a heel lug which is compatible with Salomon Shift Marker Kingpin and Fritschi Tecton 12 bindings as well as all frame and pin tech bindings.

So how do they fit? The general shell shape and volume is similar to the previous model of the Gea. So if the older versions fit you then there is a good chance that the new version will too. They are still fairly low volume, through the mid foot and instep area which was always the key area for the Gea.

In summary we expect that the new Scarpa Gea will still be a popular. Reliable, functional and fitting a lot of people. Ideal for all round Backcountry use and people wanting a more sustainable boot.
